My Best Chocolate Cake Recipe

Ingredients

2 cup sugar
1 3/4 cup flour
3/4 cup cocoa
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 cup oil (or non-fat sour cream for a lighter version)
2 tsp vanilla
1 cup boiling water

Method

  1. Grease and flour bundt pan (or: 3 8″ round cake pans, or one 9×13″ pan)
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  3. Mix together dry ingredients
  4. Add wet ingredients except water. Follow the order in which they are listed.
  5. Beat.
  6. Stir in boiling water.
  7. Pour into greased pan(s).
  8. Bake 40 minutes
  9. Let cool for 5 minutes in pan, then invert onto wire rack,
