Chocolate Pound Cake Recipe

½ cup shortening
1 cup butter
3 cups sugar
5 eggs
3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cocoa
1 1/4 cup buttermilk
3 Tablespoons vanilla
Method
- Mix softened butter and shortening well. Add sugar. Then, add eggs, one at a time.
- Sift flour, baking powder, cocoa, and salt together.
- Alternate adding flour mixture and buttermilk in butter/sugar mixture.
- Mix well, then add vanilla.
- Bake in 10-inch tube pan at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 5 minutes. May bake 5-10 minutes longer. Check with a toothpick to see if cake is ready.
