Chocolate Pound Cake Recipe

Ingredients
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup butter softened
3 cups sugar
5 eggs
3 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup cocoa
1 tsp vanilla extract
Method
- Cream the shortening and butter.
- Gradually add the sugar, beating well at medium speed with an electric blender.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, beating after each.
- Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa together.
- Add to the creamed mixture alternating with milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just blended after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla.
- Pour the batter into a greased and floured 10 inch bunt pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees F for one hour and 15 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan 10-15 minutes, remove from the pan and let cool completely on a wire rack.
